​Hello, and welcome to another edition of ‘Live-Blogging Shish on Baseball’. This Afternoon, it is a Major League Baseball game, between Chicago Cubs and Detroit Tigers.
 
Cubs are having a roller coaster season. They have dropped 3 out of the last 4 games against Cleveland Indians and Detroit Tigers. Before that they had a 5-1 home stand, including sweeping the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers. They would like to take this series and get some momentum going into their series with Nationals at Wrigley and head to St. Louis to take on the Arenado/Goldschmidt led Cardinals.
 
For the Tigers, they are still trying to find the right formula that gave them some success in the mid-aughts and 2010’s. But they would like to give Detroit their first World Series Championship since 1984.
There are also questions about how long the Tigers will be able to keep their soon-to-be Hall of Fame hitter Miguel Cabrera. Cabrera, who turned 38 last month, is hitting .172, with only 2 HRs and 10 RBIs and OPS .518. What Cabrera has left to get for his Hall of Fame resume is to hit 500 HRs (He is currently at 489) and he needs to start getting base hits as he is 119 hits away from 3000 hits.
 
But that is what is going on with these teams in their near future. As for today, the Cubs will throw Kyle Hendricks while the Tigers will start left-hander Matthew Boyd. Right-hander Kyle Hendricks comes in with a strikeout/walk ratio of 3.00, while his pitches/plate appearance is 3.42. As for Boyd, he comes in with a K/BB ratio of 3.22 K/BB, while his P/PA is 3.70.

While Detroit Tigers are coming off a sweep of Pittsburgh Pirates. These two teams are fighting off a logjam in the A.L. Central. Tigers are taking advantage of playing fewer games than White Sox, because of COVID-19 outbreak that has plagued St. Louis Cardinals.
 
Tonight’s starting pitchers are left-hander Dallas Keuchel for the White Sox and right-hander Michael Fulmer for Tigers.

Hello and welcome to another edition of ‘Live Blogging on Shish on Baseball’. Tonight it is an interleague clash between Chicago Cubs and Detroit Tigers. In this rematch of the 1945 World Series, the Cubs come in with a record of 71-53, while the Tigers come in with a record of 52-74.

The Cubs are getting fabulous pitching, but are struggling to score runs. They are scoring 5 runs, in as many games, and all of them were solo homers. Their problem in this stretch is they are not hitting with runners in scoring position. Even in this era of Sabre Metrics, Baseball Teams still need to hit with runners on either 2nd or 3rd Base.

As for the Tigers, they are just playing out the string and are having some auditions for next year.

Tonight Starting Pitchers are a pair of notable pitchers. Jon Lester for the Cubs and Francisco Liriano for the Tigers. Lester comes in with a record of 13-5, a 3.72 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 2.17 K/BB, and 4.08 P/PA. Meanwhile Liriano comes in with a record of 3-8, 4.72 ERA, 1.51 WHIP, 1.88 K/BB, and 3.91 P/PA.
